A death doula gives personalized nonmedical support to people facing severe illness, providing strength and support just as the heartwood of a tree does. Heartwood Death Doula and Bereavement Care is a one-on-one service to help you make the most of your time with the people you love.

Holly Lux-Sullivan is a former hospice chaplain, grief counselor, and ordained Unitarian Universalist minister.
With nearly 20 years of experience, she has supported people through advanced illness, dementia, and the end of life. She is a board-certified chaplain and also certified as a death doula, spiritual director, and integrative chaplain.
Holly’s approach is compassionate and personal. She listens first, respects each person’s beliefs, and helps families navigate difficult medical and emotional situations.
Clients describe her as gentle, warm, and knowledgeable — a steady presence who provides guidance and comfort during times of change.
A dedicated ally of the queer community, Holly has volunteered with the Trevor Project and Triad Health Project and helped launch her former company’s participation in Alamance Pride. She uses preferred pronouns and honors chosen families, offering care and respect to everyone she serves.
